Irish Rumour came with a well-timed charge to land the spoils in the Simonstown Handicap over the minimum trip at Navan.
The Jenny Lynch-trained filly went to post a well supported 7/2 favourite having run a big race to finish second at the Curragh on her previous outing.
Dylan Browne McMonagle got a good tune from the daughter of Footstepsinthesand to lead in the closing stages and post a length-and-a-half win over 40/1 shot Little Mi Mi
It was a breakthrough success for Irish Rumour, who had been placed on five occasions before today's win.
The winning trainer was leading up and Browne McMonagle said: "It was very straightforward.
"She's a lovely filly and had a nice run the last day in the Curragh after a little break and I rode her to get to the line and improve from that.
"We were kind of surprised that she handled the five furlongs so well. I couldn't believe how much pace she showed.
"Today I was confident. I was a little bit worried about the ground drying out for her over this trip, but she has got plenty of boot and, once you get her comfortable halfway, she comes good for you in the second half.
"She has been running over a lot further around Dundalk and stuff. Exactly (travelling well), probably doing a bit too much - not giving her the credit for the speed she has.
"I think five furlongs is her trip from now on and I don't think she would have any problem with a little bit of slower ground towards the backend as well, so hopefully she is not finished.
"Once they get their head in front, they usually keep progressing. Hopefully, she can knock in another couple before the year is out."
