The Liz Doyle trained Last Goodbye completed a hat-trick of wins at Navan today, running out a game winner of the Trim Rated Novice Hurdle, under jockey Sean Flanagan.
Flanagan, whose stock has increased in recent times with his link-up with Noel Meade, moved the son of Millenary to challenge leader Victory Mill jumping the final flight and in the end the pair stayed on best for a half length win.
Last Goodbye was following up a Bumper and maiden hurdle win today and afterwards a delighted Doyle stated “I'm thrilled as he could have been sold after he won his bumper and after he won his hurdle.
“A lot of people came on board and we put a syndicate (Last Goodbye Syndicate) together.
“He jumped well there, much better than in Wexford where his jumping was appalling .
“I think there is still more to come as he's still green and was looking around when he hit the front.
“He probably wants better ground as he floated around Roscommon but it's good that he's able to handle that.
“That was a huge step forward and he looks a nice prospect. We'll look forward to maybe dipping our toe into graded company.”
