Doyle Gets first track winner
Sean Doyle, better known as a point-to-point handler, saddled his first winner 'on the track' when Get In There caused a 25/1 shock (87.50 on Tote) in the 2m6f handicap hurdle at Limerick.
Matty Bowes gave the Benficial mare a confident ride, hitting the front travelling well before the straight.
She was shaken up after the penultimate flight and despite getting the last wrong had plenty of momentum as she went on to beat Akadyr by five lengths.
Enniscorthy based Doyle has held his licence for just over a year and has just two in training for the racecourse.
He has 12 in the yard for point-to-pointing and has enjoyed considerable success 'between the flags' with around 20 winners.
"I'm over the moon. I wasn't expected that," said the winning trainer.
"Maybe we were running her on the wrong ground before this as it seems she wants it heavy.
"She was second and third in a point-to-point so has plenty of experience. We might step her up for a three-mile handicap next time."
