After Pink Dogwood s Listed race success earlier on, Aidan O'Brien and Ryan Moore completed a Navan double courtesy of Blenheim Palace (5/1) in the BetVictor Proudly Sponsoring Irish Racing Handicap.
O'Brien and Moore relegated Noel Meade to the runner-up spot with Pink Dogwood beating Tu Va's Encapsulation and it was a case of more of the same here.
Meade's Red Gerry ran well, but not well enough to deny Blenheim Palace, a brother to Churchill and Clemmie, a three parts of a length victory.
"It has taken him a long time to get it together. Ryan thinks a mile and a quarter is fine for him. He's a big, immature baby even before and after the race today," said O'Brien.
R.P. Whelan, rider of Isosceles trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount lost its action up the straight.
The Stewards interviewed R.P. Cleary, rider of Red Gerry, concerning his use of the whip in the closing stages of this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Stewards were of the opinion that R.P. Cleary was in breach of Regulation 10.3 (g), in that he used his whip with excessive frequency. Having considered his record in this regard, the Stewards cautioned R.P. Cleary on this occasion.
