Pat Flynn and Danny Grant are certainly proving to be the men to follow at Laytown this year as they posted a double when Jeangeorges (8/1) came back to form in the seven furlong claimer.

Similarly to their first winner – Topadee – this one hit the front two furlongs out and kept up the gallop to win cosily by four and a quarter lengths.

A year ago Jeangeorges won a mile handicap at Dundalk off a mark of 58 and was moved up to a rating of 70. Life has been a struggle since then, but down to 62 he showed plenty of enthusiasm and dash this evening.

“I'd love to have more beach racing!” joked Danny Grant afterwards.

“The ground is a big factor as both of them handled the surface. We were fairly confident and it all worked out.

“He's been running on soft ground which didn't suit. He would gallop on the road if he could.”

Romeo’s On Fire, who won at Laytown last year, was off the bridle early but stayed on again in the final furlong to come home second at 9/2 under Chris Hayes. He was joint favourite.

The other 9/2 joint favourite Fleeting Moment won the battle for third from Fabbiaano He was backed down from 6/1 in the ring. Alubari was also popular with on course punters from 12/1 to 8/1, however he finished ninth of the 10 runners.
