Michael Hourigan only came off the “cold list” when The Crafty Butcher scored at Clonmel on Thursday and, like waiting on a bus, sure enough the Patrickswell trainer didn’t have to wait long for the next one to come along as A Fine Young Man landed a touch in the beginners chase at Cork.

Available at 8/1 in the morning and supported on track from 5/1 into 7/2 joint favourite, the eight-year-old made virtually all under Mark Enright.

The Snurge gelding stayed on strongly from two out and had four lengths in hand over Stradbally (10/1) at the line, with the other 7/2 joint favourite Dul Ar An Ol just a short-head further back in third.

Surprisingly Hourigan reckons this is his first winner in the famous Doran colours since the great Dorans Pride well over a decade ago.
