Blow The Doors Off got punters off to a great start at Gowran Park when taking the opening two-mile maiden hurdle in convincing fashion.

Trained by Conor O’Dwyer for JP McManus, the Medicean gelding was available at evens this morning and supported on track from 8/11 to 8/13.

Mark Walsh’s mount made much of the running and asserted before the final flight, keeping on well on the run-in to beat Jimmy Two Times by three lengths.

The runner-up stayed on best in the closing stages to put up a much improved effort here, denying the always prominent Wood Breizh (another two lengths back) the second spot.

O’Dwyer said, “He deserved it and was a shade unlucky the last day where he missed the last a bit and the track was too tight for him.

“He’s a big horse and he had to do it the hard way. He’ll be better for a step up in trip, is only five and still a big baby.

“I’d imagine he’ll spend another year hurdling before going chasing. He’ll probably go for a handicap before being left off for the summer.”
