The concluding Book Your Summer BBQ On June 8th Maiden at Navan went the way of Lady Doris for Donnacha O'Brien and Gavin Ryan.
Owned by Treasa O'Loughlin and Mrs M V Magnier, Lady Doris (13/2 into 11/2) may have rolled around in the straight but that didn't stop her from beating 6/4 favourite Naturally Nimble by a head.
Donncha's brother Joseph trains Naturally Nimble and their father Aidan had the third home, Blackpool
"The winner probably got away on her that night in Dundalk, she was just probably a little bit green at the crucial time. The winner got a head start on her," said Ryan.
"We fancied her coming here today - we knew she would go on the ground real well and see out the trip good.
"The two horses in front of me probably collapsed a bit further from home that I would have liked. I've had to kick on and she has been plenty green and idled plenty, but I think she was a good winner at the line. She was never getting beaten.
"You could of course (see her getting further) - she's by Churchill so they don't seem to have any problem seeing out a mile and a-half, so you could see her in that trip in better company."
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Rock Of Ireland trained by Barry J. Fitzgerald, at the request of the Raceday Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal.
S. Foley, rider of Heliogabalus trained by Mrs John Harrington, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount was struck into behind.
G.M. Ryan, rider of Lady Doris, trained by Donnacha Aidan O'Brien, reported to the Clerk of the Scales that his mount rolled around in the straight.
