She lost her action and returned without her right fore shoe when a tailed off last at York in May but Believe In Love put the memory of that well in the past in the Group Three Irish Stallion Farms EBF Stanerra Stakes at Leopardstown this evening.
Bred here by Kenilworth House Stud in County Tipperary, the successful four-year-old was sent across for this assignment by trainer Roger Varian, from his Newmarket base.
Ronan Whelan gave her a lovely patient steer, delivered her with her effort towards the outer in the straight, and from over a furlong out there was really only going to be one winner.
Believe In Love eventually accounted for Federica Sophia and Forbearance by a length and a half and half a length.
“She did that well. Roger told me to draw a line through the last day and not to even look into it,” said Whelan, who earlier narrowly lost out aboard Diamil
“He said her homework had been very good, he was very happy with her and that's why she was here.
“She travelled smoothly and picked up like a nice filly when I gave her the office. She's probably only doing enough in front.
“She seems versatile ground-wise. He also said to me that last year she only came into her own at this time of year so she should have a nice end of season to look forward to.
“She's back on track now after that.”
Varian had earlier been on the mark with Asjad at Doncaster.
