Dame Rapide caused a 40/1 upset to win the concluding race of the Curragh's Guineas festival today, the Download The App At Novibet Handicap, for trainer James Barrett, jockey Luke McAteer and her owner - Mr Elmir Habibovic.
The Footstepsinthesand-mare caught the eye when well beaten at Cork recently and today raced with the pace, disputed the lead from two furlongs out and edged past runner-up Black Hawk Eagle close home.
Trainer Barrett reported “she’s relaxed more and grown up a lot. She was always a bit buzzy and keen but she’s relaxed more at home and is finishing her races real well now.
“She jumps hurdles well but was in season the last day in Cork and never showed up. We’ll probably mix and match it with her and hopefully we can go back and win a hurdle with her.
“We’ll probably look for a bit of black type as well. She loves that ground and also loves it here. There is room to race and it’s a fair track.”
