The Shane Nolan trained Charlie Stout gained his maiden win at the 11th attempt when completing a double on the day for jockey Eamonn Corbett int the Gift Horse Gallery @ The Horse & Jockey Hotel Handicap Hurdle at Thurles today.
Corbett, earlier successful on The Conker Club delivered Charlie Stout, a son of Spadoun, with a well timed challenge to lead at the second last and from there went on to beat Bull Ride by three parts of a length.
Michael O'Connor, representing Shane Nolan who was at Fairyhouse, later stated “he was unlucky to run into a J.P. McManus owned horse at Galway and was very good today. Eamonn gave him a very good ride and Shane and Barry Potts (owner) do a great job with him at home.
"You'll probably see him running again over Christmas."
STEWARDS REPORT
The Stewards interviewed D.E. Mullins, rider of Draycott Place concerning his use of the whip in this race. Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(e), in that he used the whip in an area other than on the hindquarters or on the shoulder and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day.
Owing to the low lying sun , the Stewards granted permission for the third last hurdle to be omitted for this race.
