Coolaghknock delivers

On his initial outing carrying the J P McManus colours, Coolaghknock Glebe came in for significant market support, on his first outing for 68 days, in the Derrygarth Novice Handicap Chase. The Westerner gelding duly landed the punt, in first-time blinkers, under Mark Walsh, at Clonmel.

Backed in from as big as tens when the race was first priced up, Coolaghknock Glebe went off the 3/1 market-leader and he travelled with purpose throughout the extended two and a quarter miler. Kilcarry Bridge and Easyondeye were still on the premises when coming to grief at the second last, but Coolaghknock Glebe would surely have been tough to match in any scenario, and he eventually strode to a comfortable ten length victory over Ibetellingyoualie

"He can be a bit tricky and ran out here one day. He travelled well and jumped nicely today once he got going. We've nothing in mind for him short-term," reported McManus' racing manager Frank Berry.

The successful seven-year-old is trained by Christy Roche and he was bred by the Curragh handler's wife, Noeleen.

The Stewards received a report from Mr.P.L.Malone , Turf Club Clerk of the Scales, regarding the fact that A.E. Lynch, rider of Harangue weighed in at 1.6 lbs overweight.

Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having considered the evidence, the Stewards were satisfied that the rider was in breach of Rule 231 and having considered his record, suspended him for one race day.

D.N. Russell, rider of Company Coming trained by J.H. Culloty, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount made a few mistakes and did not travel on the second circuit.

The Turf Club Veterinary Officer examined Company Coming, trained by J.H. Culloty, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be stiff behind post race.

A.E. Lynch, rider of Harangue, trained by Paul John Gilligan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount did not travel well coming down the hill.
