Another solid leap from Cherryantor under Shane Crimin

Iggy Madden got his first winner on the board since Weslife scored at odds of 50/1 at Galway in September 2012 (with Carlingford Lough only third), when Cherryantor shrugged aside the fact that he was racing from 16Ibs out of the weights to land the Newgrange Veterans Handicap Chase at Navan.
The ten-year-old, with only one previous win to his name, that coming at Roscommon (at odds of 25/1 in September 2012) jumps fences well and that allied to his rider Shane Crimin claiming 7Ibs, helped him to justify the faith of those that backed him from 50/1 into 33/1 for this assignment.
Cherryantor got to the front at the third last, having been under pressure from five out. Solid quick 'fencing' from there home saw him defeat Duers at the finish by a length.
Owner/trainer Madden was leading-up Cherryantor and it was left to Crimin to state: "That's my 10th winner and third over fences.
"I'm 22 and from Terenure in Dublin.
"I ride out for Oliver McKiernan and Michael Hourigan." (AM & EM)
