Cavalry Master upstaged the well-fancied Think Positive in the bumper at Kilbeggan, the Add Kilbegganraces On Snapchat Flat Race.
Trained by Henry de Bromhead, the grey son of Milan was eighth of thirteen behind Dinny Lacey on his debut at Punchestown in February.
Sent off an easy to back 10/1 chance today, the five-year-old gelding raced behind the leaders on the outer under Declan Lavery.
He improved to lead with four furlongs left to race and kept on well when ridden inside the final furlong, going on to score by three lengths in the colours of Gigginstown House Stud.
Think Positive, who was sent off the even money favourite, tried hard to reel-in the winner, but ultimately had to settle for second under Patrick Mullins for his father Willie.
The Noel Meade trained Jakoby (20/1) completed the places another three and a quarter lengths back in third.
de Bromhead said afterwards: "He's a lovely big horse and has always worked nicely. I thought he'd struggle here but Declan gave him a brilliant ride.
"He'll go home to Gigginstown now for a summer holiday, and will love a bit more ease in the ground. The ground was safe there and he was good.
"He jumps really well and has won a schooling hurdle. He's a grand horse."
