Pat Flynn and Darragh O’Keeffe, a trainer and jockey in form, combined for success in the Calor Gas Handicap Hurdle at Wexford with Buttons And Bows
Less than nine and a half lengths separated twelve of them here at the finish and the J P McManus-owned Buttons And Bows got there late to beat odds-on favourite Song Of Namibia by a neck.
"We are delighted with her. We thought the trip might be a bit short today but we felt she might get away with it, with the pull up to the finish here. I told the young fella to take his time and that she would stay well up the hill," said Flynn.
"She is a lovely mare and will probably be better over further. She just got away with the ground today, if it was any firmer I wouldn't have ran her as she is a big mare.
"Her mother won for me and JP as well. I actually sold her to JP and then he gave me this one out of her so it's brilliant.
"I'll discuss it with the lads now as to where she will go next."
D. Meyler, rider of Reine Fee trained by Shane Crawley, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount ran out in the closing stages of its own accord.
