Kevin Brouder partnered his second big handicap winner in the space of 24 hours at Leopardstown as Treacysenniscorthy continued his rapid progression for trainer Robert Widger in the William Fry Handicap Hurdle.
Brouder swooped late yesterday on Thosedaysaregone in the Ladbrokes Hurdle but in contrast he made all here on Treacysenniscorthy.
Trained by Widger for his wife Paula, the 8/1 chance was completing a four-timer here and stayed on strongly to repeat his victory over the same three miles in the Pertemps Qualifier at Christmas.
The Jam Man could make no impression on the run-in to be beaten a length and a half with 5/1 favourite Column Of Fire a head further back in third.
Tout Est Permis completed the places another nine lengths back in fourth.
Widger said, “There's plenty of us have come to follow him today so it's a great day. To even have a runner up here at a meeting like this, for a small stable, is phenomenal. To come here with a chance and then win is what you dream of.
“He's a chaser, that is what he is. He won a novice chase and we decided to go back over hurdles and try and win a hurdle with him. He just kept improving and that's why we've kept him over hurdles.
“We'll have a look at Cheltenham but the handicapper will have his say now so we'll have to see if he puts him up too much.”
