Brides Hill got a deserved win to her name in the Victoria House Maiden Hurdle.

Second on two of her last three starts, the Gavin Cromwell trained bay was sent off the clear 8/13 favourite under Darragh O'Keeffe for owner John Leigh.

Soon settled behind the leaders, she improved into a close second from the fourth last and was disputing the lead when running off the bend on the approach to two out.

She continued to hang left between the final two flights, but was ridden to the front after the last, keeping on best from there to score by a length-and-a-quarter. Trebizond (11/4) had to settle for second under Dylan Robinson for Henry de Bromhead, while Odd Venture (66/1) was a further fifteen lengths back in third.

Feidhlim Cunningham, representing Cromwell, said: "She did it the hard way, around a tricky track. She was unlucky in Ballinrobe and probably should have won there. She was second again at Galway on her last start.

"It was good to come back here, getting the mares allowance in four-year-old company.

"She might go to Ballinrobe now (August 23rd) for a decent pot or she could get in at the bottom of the weights for the Lartigue at Listowel."
