An Bradan Feasa made an impressive start over hurdles when striding clear on the run-in to take the David Sweeney Memorial 3YO Maiden Hurdle at Ballinrobe.

The Joseph O’Brien-trained gelding was far from disgraced on his debut recently on the Flat at Navan and attracted some support here — 6/1 in the morning and further backed from 100/30 into 5/2 joint favourite on track.

The son of Camelot jumped to the front at the final flight and soon asserted under JJ Slevin for a stylish victory.

There was an eight lengths gap back to Pigeon House with the winner’s stablemate Expelliarmus a further two and a quarter lengths back in third.

Slevin said, "It was a good performance considering he'd only had the one run in Navan. Deccie (McDonogh) rode him there and he ran quite well.

"He was a bit green in the run here but did it well. I like the way he kept lengthening the whole way up the straight to the line, it's a good sign.

"He's a Camelot out of a Shantou mare, related to Kalashnikov and Kicking King, so it's a staying family. He could be a nice horse down the line, hopefully, and we'll have plenty of options with him"
