Amix storms clear in Navan opener
Son Amix destroyed his rivals in the opening maiden hurdle at Navan when scoring in impressive fashion for Tom Cooper.
The French-bred was sent to the front turning for home, by the trainer's son Bryan, and was soon in command.
He eased clear before the penultimate flight and kept up the gallop to the line to record a stunning 28-length success over Firm Foundations
The 5/2 favourite was gaining compensation for a disappointing Irish debut at Thurles when he had been well supported.
"That was very good. He obviously wasn't right the first day, even though he scoped right afterwards," said Cooper.
"It was only four or five days later that we found he was wrong. He was a different horse today and jumped much better.
"When he came over he was very free and it took him a while to settle - to do it the Irish way instead of the French!
"He's in the Fred Winter and we'll have a look at that. He'll appreciate a bit better ground."
