Fourth in the opening split with Pedro De Styles Thomond O’Mara and Wayne Lordan took division two of the Carnbeg Hotel & Spa Handicap at Dundalk with Amazing One (11s into 8s).
O’Mara trains Pedro De Styles and Amazing One for his wife Roisin Hickey and the latter got the better of Iseebreeze (33/1) by a head.
There was two and three parts of a length to top-weight Tyrconnell in third.
“He gave him a great ride and just got there which was grand,” said O'Mara.
“He got 5lb for finishing second ages back and I thought it was unbelievably harsh.
“We've no big plans and we'll keep him on the go here.”
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer examined Crest Of A Wave trained by Charles O'Brien, at the request of the Stewards and reported the animal to be post race normal. Samples were also taken for analysis.
The Stewards requested a report from T.J. O'Mara, trainer as to the apparent improvement in form of Amazing One (GB), placed first, as compared with its recent run.
Mr. O'Mara reported that his charge was forced to race wide from a bad draw in his previous race, which he felt may have accounted for the poor run.
Having considered the evidence the Stewards noted the explanation offered.
The Irish Horseracing Regulatory Board Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Seeking Truth trained by John James Feane was found to have blood at the nose following exercise induced pulmonary haemorrhage.
