Aloysius Lilius broke well from stall two and blitzed his rivals in the five furlong handicap for horses rated 47-65 in Bellewstown.
Colin Keane was on board and his mount showed good speed to lead narrowly from Realtin Fantasy He began to crank up the pressure on the field in the final two furlongs and was ridden clear of Realtin Fantasy passing the '1' pole. His closest pursuer was in turn clear of the remainder in a race in which few horses landed a blow.
The leader kept up the gallop impressively as he stormed home by three and a half lengths at 9/1 for trainer Ger O'Leary.
Realtin Fantasy (33/1) was an honourable second having been the only horse able to chase the pace. She came home half a length in front of Hot Whispers (14/1).
Assistant trainer Adrian Joyce said: “He had a pole position drawn two and Colin let him roll along and he loved it.
“He ran well in Down Royal on his first start this year over five and he was a bit keen the last day over six and didn’t see it out.
“The horses are running well and we have a great team of staff at home that are doing a great job. Hopefully we’ll get another few before the end of the season.”
