Alamein opened his account in good style when galloping on strongly in the closing stages to claim the concluding bumper at Thurles this afternoon.
Nina Carberry let the 15/8 favourite stride into the lead turning into the back straight in the two-mile contest.
Mouse Morris' charge, in the Gigginstown colours, was asked to stretch heading for home and kept on well to record a comprehensive 11-length victory.
The Beneficial gelding had been well held on his last couple of runs but looked to be taking a drop in company today.
"Nina said he was idling but the tongue-tie did him no harm and I'm hoping that has turned a corner. He'll be left off now until next season," said Morris.
Regarding FIrst Lieutenant, he added "I know him so long to know he didn't do a stroke but he'll still run in the Aintree Grand National next."
