Wood Breizh the only representative of Willie Mullins and Paul Townend on the day, may have been just second market choice for the opening #16,095 Average Pick 6 Dividend Maiden Hurdle at Tramore, but he ended up fairly walloping the 'jolly' and the rest.
The grey stormed away from the second last flight. No doubt all involved in the Supreme Horse Racing Club will have enjoyed watching Wood Breizh ping the last before running away with the two miler by an unflattering seven and a half lengths.
The J P McManus-owned, John Berry-trained newcomer Day Day came through for the second spot whilst odds-on shot Halling's Treasure didn't always convince with his jumping and had to settle for sixth place.
Townend remarked: "He did it nicely. The better ground was a big help and he's starting to hurdle now where he had been jumping them like fences.
"I was surprised how well he quickened to the second last and again away from the last.
"The ground is quicker than yesterday - it's probably good." (DM & EM)
