"I only rode him for the first time in the Curragh. He had a good draw there and I wanted to make use of it but it was the wrong thing to do as he got on his head a bit and never travelled," said Fran Berry after he'd completed a 506/1 treble in the finale at Dundalk on Daliyan
Here, in the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap, Berry was aboard Daliyan (16s into 12s) for Rodger Sweeney, whilst his earlier victories were for Andy Oliver, on Power Struggle and Excelli for Aidan Howard in the 8.30.
Daliyan chased the leaders on the inner, before staying on strongly inside the final furlong to head and beat Locus Standi in the final fifty yards by three parts of a length.
"Today he had a good draw again but I was able to get him into a rhythm. He travelled good but got a bit outpaced turning in. To his credit he stayed on well," added Berry.
"He's versatile ground wise and that might open up a few options for him."
The Stewards interviewed R. Aguiar, rider of Swift Harry (GB), concerning his use of the whip in this race.
Evidence was heard from the rider concerned. Having viewed a recording of the race and considered the evidence the Stewards were of the opinion that the rider was in breach of Regulation 10.3(f), in that he used the whip with excessive frequency in the straight and Regulation 10.4 for failing to give his mount time to respond at the start of this race.
Having considered his record the rider was suspended for two race days.
