There was a treble on the day for Seamie Heffernan completed by Miss Molly T in the Leopardstown Fillies Maiden.
After riding the opening couple of scorers, Willow and Bolshoi Ballet for Ballydoyle, here Heffernan, who isn’t travelling on for the action at Dundalk, was aboard Miss Molly T for Gerry Keane.
Keane’s son Colin was already on the way for polytrack duty, and Heffernan employed the favoured pace making role on Miss Molly T.
The 74-rated performer held Fictitious Lady by three parts of a length.
“It’s great to get her head in front and the owner (Liam McHugh) wants to keep her as a broodmare,” said the winning trainer.
“We had the dam (No Trimmings) and Colin rode his first winner on her in 2010. She won five races for us.
“She ran bad the last day and wasn’t right after it so we gave her plenty of time to recover. We’ll probably have to go handicapping now. There may not be a lot left for her and I don’t know whether she would handle Dundalk.
“She’s very forward and a bit buzzy. We were trying to hold her up and she wasn’t settling in her races. Gary (Carroll) let her roll here before and I said to Seamie if something goes mad take a lead and if not see how it works out.”
L.T. McAteer, rider of Lough Swilly Pearl trained by Gillian Scott, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount never travelled.
