Fran Berry brought up a near 22/1 double at Dundalk as Moonmeister (11/2 joint favourite) came home best on his third outing for the Tony Martin yard, to land the spoils in the Christmas Party Nights At Dundalk Handicap.
Berry's other ride on the evening, Paytheprice took the opener for Andy Oliver, and in this mile and a half affair Moonmeister fly leapt from the stalls.
He then raced in rear, was switched left in the final quarter mile before progressing into third a furlong out. Soon ridden to challenge Moonmeister kept on well to lead close home for a half length verdict over Bittern
"Fran rode him in Naas and things didn't go to plan. He was very unlucky and hit the front too early," said Martin.
"We all learned a lot from that day and Fran knew him from that.
"He jumps well but he wants good ground and that's why he likes it here as it's a quick surface.
"Johnny and Paula Davison (owners) are lovely people to be involved with. Micky Maguire, Jason's father and Adrian's brother is their racing manager. He did a great job with this horse as he was very difficult as a young horse and they had a lot of problems with him."
