Fairy Wing recorded his third win this year, and fourth in total, when landing a real touch in the Morocco SOREC Handicap with some style under Fran Berry.
The Jessica Harrington-trained gelding, who appears to have benefitted from a wind operation after running at Naas last month, was available at 7/1 this morning and supported from 9/2 down to 3/1 favourite on track.
The start was delayed by 11 minutes after Joe Eile needed to be re-shod but it proved no problem to the Hawk Wing five-year-old who led early in the straight and was well on top in the final furlong to beat Jembatt (6/1) by three lengths. Dash Back (14/1) completed the placings a further length and a quarter back in third.
Harrington said, “He was good. We were going to wait for Galway but, with the way the ground is there at the moment, we decided to run here.
“If it does dry out at Galway he’ll head there. He needs good ground and may just sneak into the premier seven furlongs handicap on the Saturday.”
