FormscanBy John O'Riordan - Epsom Derby third WHITE BIRCH can continue his revival by adding to his recent course and distance win. The John Joseph Murphy-trained colt ran below par in the Irish Derby last July and again failed to show his true form when beaten in Group 3 class at Leopardstown on his final start. However, there was plenty to like about his winning reappearance at this track last month. Elegant Man is a fascinating contender for Adrian Murray on his first start on turf. The four-year-old put up a hugely impressive weight carrying performance when winning at Newcastle over Easter but has yet to race on grass. The Joseph O'Brien-trained Maxux looks best of the remainder.

Quotes on Elegant Man (USA)
Elegant Man will probably improve because he is having a little blow. Mikey (Sheehy) said he was still green when he hit the front. The form of the Listed race (at Kempton) is very strong and that was as good as a Group 2 race you would say. He loves this surface and will be kept on this type of surface for the time being, but I could see him going on the grass over the summer. We worked him on the grass, he is a beautiful mover and he doesn't look like he would have any bother stepping up in trip. Kia (Joorabchian, owner) is anxious that he goes to Dubai and that will probably be our next target. We haven't pinpointed a race but we will talk and see what they want to do.After Elegant Man (USA) finished 1st at Dundalk on Fri, 26th Jan 2024 1m 2f Flat Standard

Quotes on Lord Massusus (IRE)
We were disappointed the last day but things didn't go right for him, he pulled too hard. We got him switched off today, he came home well and a fast pace suited him. He won like a good horse, I thought it was a good performance. That's what he was showing us when we supplemented him for the Minstrel Stakes. That's his fifth win now. There is a little bit of ease in the ground today, the day he ran in the Listed race and was running on well (fourth in the Celebration Stakes) it was good so he's versatile. He has a low action so good ground makes no difference. We'll look forward to the big meeting now, he'll go for the Dullingham Park Stakes on Irish Champions Weekend. After Lord Massusus (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Thu, 17th Aug 2023 1m Flat Good

Quotes on White Birch (GB)
Absolutely delighted with that. He relaxed lovely early on and quickened up really well. He got a good bump about a furlong down but he’s a very honest horse and stayed lengthening the whole way to the line. We are delighted with that and he could be very good. He’s done what we always thought he could do. We’ll have a chat now with the owners and make a decision on where we are going to go. We said we would learn a lot today going up to a mile and a quarter on this ground and it seemed no issue to him. He’s hasn’t any classic entries but he could get some yet! We’ll see how he comes out of this and make a plan from there. He had a lovely run first time out in Naas on heavy ground so we thought he’d get through it today alright. He floated around Dundalk over seven and showed a lot of speed so he could be very versatile ground wise and clearly going a mile and quarter was no issue either. He could be a very exciting horse. After White Birch (GB) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Sun, 2nd Apr 2023 1m 2f Flat Heavy

Quotes on Goldana (IRE)
she really deserved it as she had been running well with penalties through the end of last season and also on her first run this year. I'm delighted to get her head in front and she's beaten two very good geldings. She gave away a lot of weight on her first run of the year, when she bumped into two smart fillies, and got a little bit tired. She'll probably step back into group company now and she's particularly effective on soft ground - wherever she goes she'll be kept on easier ground. She's a Group 3 and Listed winner and it would be great if we could get her into Group 2s. There is a nice one on Guineas weekend but obviously we'll be guided by conditions. After Goldana (IRE) finished 1st at Leopardstown on Wed, 10th Apr 2024 1m Flat Heavy

Quotes on Village Voice (GB)
She has been very brave down the inside. I'm just watching the head on and she has been very brave to go through the gap. She has done it really really nicely. I'd imagine we will go Ribblesdale now, we were just touched off in it last year with Magical Lagoon. Our other horse, Foniska has run a cracker, but she boiled over a little bit beforehand and will come on a tonne from it. She wants a bit better ground. Shane is trying to take it well! He knew it was going to be a tough call but his filly has lost little in defeat. She just got tired close home. It was a tough choice for him - this filly, Village Voice, does absolutely nothing at home. It has been a good day and a great tonic for mum. I think it is the quote of the year - I rang her coming in here and she said 'why are you ringing me? They are about to go into the stalls!' I told her the race had finished and she obviously pressed pause and didn't fast forward it again! I told her Village Voice won and Foniska was third and she said 'oh, brilliant!'.After Village Voice (GB) finished 1st at Navan on Sat, 22nd Apr 2023 1m 2f Flat Soft
