Beef Or Salmon defeated on comeback 'run'

Beef Or Salmon's chances of bringing the 2011 Cheltenham Gold Cup to Limerick appear forlorn despite the chasing legend's return to 'racing' at Limerick this evening.

The gelding, now a 14yo, was taking part in a novelty 200m Charity 'race' against Tipperary hurling star Shane McGrath but, as in his racing days, the handicapper always appeared to have his measure. Beef Or Salmon, under Timmy Murphy (on his only ride), failed to concede a 100 metre head-start to McGrath who never looked in danger of defeat and won eased down.

The 'race' was run in aid of the Playing For Life Charity which provides education and health awareness through sport to impoverished communities in Africa. Their website is www.playingforlife.ie.

The Charity, founded by Tracy Piggott, will be organising a similar event at Leopardstown over Christmas.
