Ado McGuinness reports A Case Of You in great form as his stablestar bids to land the Prix de l’Abbaye de Longchamp Longines for a second successive year on Sunday.
The four-year-old son of Hot Streak provided connections with a memorable day 12 months ago when getting up on the line under regular partner Ronan Whelan to pip Air De Valse in the mud and they went on to record another Group 1 win this spring in the Al Quoz Sprint at Meydan.
However, he needs to bounce back after a disappointing run in the Al Basti Equiworld, Dubai Flying Five Stakes at the Curragh but McGuinness is confident he goes to Paris in great shape.
“I’m very happy and he’s in great form. I think he needed the run the last day in the Curragh and we were the wrong side,” said the Lusk trainer.
“There are 19 left and I’m just praying that we get a good draw.
“To go to a Group 1 race with a sprinter you need a run and especially him — he’s a colt and he’s heavy. He was three months off and needed a run to just really make him sharp. He always improves for his first run and his second run.
“It’s raining in Paris and I think it will end up soft ground. I’m looking forward to it and the track will suit him.
“Fingers crossed he’ll be bang there.”
