The Jessica Harrington trained Conron has been hit with a 33lbs weight rise for his last place finish at Killarney on Wednesday.

The four year old winning hurdler possessed an almost bottom-of-the-barrel rating of 34 prior to Wednesday's return to flat racing. While he did finish last of the four runners, he did chase home three quite useful previous winners and finished just 8.75L behind victor and potentially smart performer Falcon Eight.

Balloting issues have made it difficult for such lowly rated runners to get into low grade handicaps in Ireland and while connections wisely or unwisely opted not to travel to Britain, Conron did previously miss the cut from his 34 rating when a reserve at Leopardstown on May 25.

The potential 'positive' from being raised to his new 67 rating means connections can now avoid much of the balloting associated with lower grade handicaps.
