Thedevilscoachman is set for a return to fences at Galway on Sunday in the Purchase By 3pm Today To WINABMW.ie Irish EBF Beginners Chase.
Noel Meade, who won the 2m6f event 12 months ago with the ill-fated Sixshooter, reports the Grade 2 winning hurdler on target to reappear at the western venue this weekend.
“The plan at the moment is to run at Galway on Sunday,” said the Castletown trainer.
“He’d a couple of runs over fences last season and didn’t jump as well as we thought he might but is a young horse and hopefully he’ll take to it better now.
“He likes heavy ground so I’d say the Galway ground will suit him well. He got held up a bit last season but everything is good with him now.”
The JP McManus-owned gelding was placed on both chase outings last term including behind Ferny Hollow at Punchestown before connections successfully changed direction with a victory in the BetVictor Boyne Hurdle at Navan.
Thedevilscoachman could face the likes of Galmoy Hurdle winner Sams Profile and Minella Crooner, runner-up in a Grade 1 novice hurdle at the Dublin Racing Festival, who are both among the 16 entries.
