Taisce Naisiunta the only filly in the race, sprang a bit of a surprise in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Premier Nursery Handicap as her better fancied rivals disappointed.

The Jim Bolger trained daughter of Lawman won over five furlongs on her debut at Tipperary in April before finishing a respectable sixth in the Marble Hill at the Curragh the following month.

She was fifth on her next two starts in Listed company and making her handicap debut this evening she was sent off an 8/1 chance.

Settled in fifth she was ridden approaching the straight and soon improved on the outer.

She came through to lead just over a furlong out and kept on well inside the final furlong to score by a length.

Recent Killarney winner Jefferson Davis (6/1 to 5/1) finished second under Chris Hayes for Kevin Prendergast while the 11/4 favourite Tonkinese was a disappointing last under Shane Foley for Mick Halford.

Whisky Sour (3/1) and Corstorphine (7/2) also disappointed finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Ger Flynn, Jim Bolger's travelling head man, said afterwards: "Kevin (Manning) was delighted with her and said she travelled really well. She handled the ground and is a lovely filly.

"The step up to seven (furlongs) today was never an issue being by Lawman and we'll see how she comes out of this but will probably go for another Nursery and obviously would then look for black-type."

STEWARDS REPORT

S. Foley, rider of Tonkinese (GB) trained by M.Halford, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount did not act on the slow ground.
