Onameridance streaked clear in the closing stages of the Barclay Communications Handicap to give Joseph O'Brien and Shane Crosse a quick double on the card at Down Royal this afternoon.
Soveriegnty won the early battle for the lead in the ten furlong contest but was claimed over a furlong from home by the 11/4 favourite.
The Fastnet Rock filly soon sprinted away from her rivals, going on to record an easy eight-and-a-half length success over Chaos Control
Onameridance had been a staying on fifth over a mile at Killarney on her handicap debut last month and was trying ten furlongs for the first time today.
Assistant trainer Brendan Powell said: "I thought she was unlucky not to win at Killarney the last day and she stayed on well at the end. She hung badly left-handed that day, but Joseph has changed the bit on her today.
"Shane actually said she probably wants to go a mile and a half, he said she'll get a mile and a half. He said she cantered away and settled well. He said when he went to pick up, she didn't pick up quickly but stayed all the way to the line.
"She has gone and won and will win again. How high she will go, you don't know. You can only win.
“She's worth having a go in something (premier handicap). She's a filly and they are breeders so maybe getting black-type placed along the way is worth trying. There's no better man to try it than Joseph."
