Sporting Glory pleases favourite backers at Galway
Sporting Glory justified favouritism when getting well on top in the closing stages to take the Corrib Oil Maiden Hurdle for Gordon Elliott and Sam Ewing at Galway. Sat 26th OctDublin Racing Festival plan for easy Down Royal scorer Mongibello
"We have been excited about her for a while," revealed Stuart Crawford after the Simon Munir and Isaac Souede-owned Mongibello collected in the concluding event at Down Royal, the Metcollect Metal Recycling (Pro/Am) INH Flat Race. Tue 26th Dec
After race at Galway Sat, 26th Oct, 2024 (1st)
It was his first start for the yard and he was entitled to do that as he obviously had good form before coming to us. While he was more than entitled to win a maiden hurdle, it was still nice to see him go and do that. He should improve plenty from it and he also lost some ground when landing awkwardly at the second-last. Sam was happy with him and gave him a lovely ride. It is great for the owners who are great supporters of the yard and hopefully it is onwards and upwards with him. There will be plenty of novice opportunities for him and the fact he has already proven himself in top novice company in the past, you'd hope he will do so again.

After race at Fairyhouse Sat, 24th Feb, 2024 (1st)
Derek was brilliant in the last 50 yards. I'm delighted that he has ridden a winner for me. I've had a lot of top riders that have ridden winners for me and I was afraid I'd never get him to ride a winner. He was good there. We'll see what Joe Foley and Steve Parkin (Clipper Logistics) say, but we'll probably go for a maiden hurdle and then rock up to Punchestown in a good race, depending on how he jumps. Something like that. Martin Cullinane sold the horse and made sure that he'd end up in my yard. We were begging lads to buy him and they were knocking the horse because he was too old or whatever. He had a great pedigree, he's from the family of Harbour Pilot and there are winners everywhere on the page.
