Tramore Fri, 31st May, 2024  Redwood Queen They went a good gallop and she can be very free so he sat off them. She is progressive and is fierce genuine. She shouldn't go up much in the handicap for that and she'll keep going for the summer now, she needs good ground.

Ballinrobe Mon, 27th May, 2024  Extrapolation Coming here today it looked a hot beginners', but then the favourite (Zenta) came out. I still thought it would be tough task against a 137-rated chaser in Mighty Tom, but he loves good ground like that and it's terrific to get the win. Danny (Mullins) has been very lucky for me and he was very impressed with how he jumped today. He jumps so well that he doesn't have to stay in novice company. There's a handicap chase at Killarney in July that I won a few years ago with horse called Azzuri and we could possibly target this fellow at that

Wexford Sat, 18th May, 2024  Plain Or Battered That's Conor's fifth winner. He started with me just over a year ago and started with no experience. For the chances he is getting his strike rate has been extremely good. He is good value for his claim and this horse is an ideal one for him to ride as he has plenty of experience,. I got him off the Dooly's and Noel is still involved with him. The Dooly's are fabulous people and they gave me the opportunity to buy three horses and I'm really pleased to have them. They are great friends and are lovely people, so I can't say enough thanks to Noel and Jenny Dooly, they are very good to me. He is a winter horse and we have winter ground today. I believe it's summer heavy today and so did Paul Townend and a lot of the senior jockeys, yet the board inside still says soft, yielding in places. The same clerk of the course (Paul Moloney) gave good to yielding in Kilbeggan last night, whereas all the senior jockeys said good, no yielding. There is a huge discrepancies. How are they seeing it as slower than the riders last night and quicker than the riders today. The discrepancy is too big and it doesn't make sense. I'm delighted because my horse is a winter horse and he got heavy ground today. Liz Doyle told me this morning it would be proper soft and she was right. He'll probably get a break now and come back in the winter to go over fences.

Downpatrick Fri, 10th May, 2024  Redwood Queen She loves that ground. She is very, very small, but she is absolutely brilliant to jump. Her heart is in the right place. After riding in the second race, he (Philip Byrnes) felt he was a bit too far back (on I Am Spider Man) and I didn't think he was. I told him to ride this one the very same and he got it right. We didn't know anything about the bonus (€7,500 ITBA). My son (Cathal) owns her, so he will be happy!. She will keep going over the summer and she will jump a fence as well.

Bellewstown Wed, 24th Apr, 2024  Ma Hoey That's it, yes (they are there to be jumped) - it would have been a good race if the horse upsides going down to the last stayed standing. She was idling a bit up the straight and I think she had a little bit up her sleeve, so I wasn't overly worried. She couldn't really handle the heavy ground - better ground and 2m4f and got away nice and cheekpieces on. I just think in behind horses she wasn't going forward. Out in front today, I think we just saw the best of her.

Aintree Sat, 13th Apr, 2024  Gwennie May Boy I have to say, I genuinely thought West Balboa would win, especially after Kateira won yesterday as there was nothing separating them when they last ran together at Kempton,. I am astounded at the improvement in this horse (Gwennie May Boy). He’s only a six-year-old and walking round beforehand I thought he looked a bit light and might be over the top, but what do I know – it’s clearly how he likes to be. I’ve not had him all that long and I hadn’t even worked him out before I ran him at Bangor, I just ran him. He won so well there I thought there’s a £100,000 race at Uttoxeter so we better go for that and then there was this here, it was just obvious. He has taken me by surprise as he works terrible at home, but he saves it all for the track and he’s just got on a roll. He’s been a remarkable little horse.

Cork Mon, 1st Apr, 2024  Ryehill Three miles suits him down to the ground but he isn't a natural over his fences. He is hard to watch in a race but gets the job done and must be some good. I'm delighted for Lee, whose parents are all here and is a right lad. . The owners are from Galway except Conor Brett from Cork and got into a syndicate after the horse failed to sell after finishing second in his first run. They're knocking great sport out of him. The plan was to go handicap chasing but we might look for a winners' of one hunters' chase now.

Fairyhouse Sun, 31st Mar, 2024  Captains Nephew James felt that there was no touch or bump and is reasonably confident that everything should be okay. Tom (Doran) has been a huge supporter and I’m delighted for him. The tongue tie slipped in Thurles the last day and he didn’t see out his race. Maybe the ground was too quick for him. His form up to then was mighty and this race was the aim for a while.

Thurles Tue, 5th Mar, 2024  Boss Robin He had won two point to points and is a tough horse. He is big, loves that ground and will run on the track (in handicap chases) eventually,. His two point to point wins were in Comea (local track) which was a big thing as his owners Aidan and Susan Archdeacon are from Fethard and are good friends of ours for years. We're having great fun with the horse, we'll tip away and go to Cork during Easter for a winners' of one hunters chase.

Navan Sun, 11th Feb, 2024  American Mike To be honest, he's probably one of the horses that makes me scratch my head more than any other. He keeps disappointing me and then he comes back with a good one again. He has obviously a big engine on his day, when he's right, but he's not easy to train. I thought Jack gave him a great ride. I don't know what I'm doing or where I'm going with him, he's a horse that baffles me. We've just tipped away with him steady at home and haven't over-worked him as he was very fit going to Christmas, but just didn't get home. He's in a few of the novice chases at Cheltenham and he could go for an Irish National. I don't know what I'm going to do with him to be honest. We'll enjoy today, he's won a graded race for Noel and Valerie (Moran, Bective Stud) at their local track, they are big supporters of Navan and the whole game.
