Shark delighted with Hewick ahead of Aintree Shark Hanlon is delighted with Hewick as his stable star completes his preparation for the Randox Grand National at Aintree on Saturday. The Virtual gelding is a leading fancy for the world’s most famous race after recent support and is generally a 10/1 shot. He warmed up for the race with a win over hurdles at Thurles last month. Hanlon, speaking to RTE at Downpatrick, said: "Hewick is great, he couldn't be better. "One final bit of work at the Curragh on Tuesday and that's it. "Looking forward to it. Under a bit of pressure now, he's the public horse. "The most important thing for next Saturday is that horse comes home. I wouldn't run him in the race if I felt he wouldn't come home. "If he wins, he wins but I want him home - that's the most important thing. "In fairness, he was very good (over the Aintree-type fences). Paddy (Hanlon) schooled him two years ago and then I changed my mind and went for the Gold Cup. "He is schooling very, very well - couldn't be happier. Jody McGarvey schooled him the other day because Paddy (Hanlon) was laid up with a thumb. Jody was very happy with him."
