The middle afternoon of Aintree's Grand National Festival looms large on Friday, with another quartet of Grade 1 events gracing the famous Merseyside layout.

They are headlined by the Melling Chase, as Jonbon bids to rebound from his latest Cheltenham disappointment, while the Topham Chase gives us a first look at the famous National Course before Saturday's main event.

We've put together a day two accumulator for Aintree's big meeting, which returns odds of 32/1 if successful.

Romeo Coolio to back up Supreme showing

It looked like a warm renewal of the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham last month and ROMEO COOLIO was one of a trio that stood out from the rest.

Jack Kennedy made plenty of use of his mount that afternoon and perhaps he paid a little price late on, as Kopek Des Bordes and William Munny got away from him, but he was still clear in third with a rival here, Salvator Mundi, more than 10-lengths adrift in fifth.

That Cheltenham curtain-raiser was utterly dominated by Irish-trained horses and the raiding party are well set here, even allowing for Fergal O'Brien's Tripoli Flyer for the home side.

Romeo Coolio's last effort puts him well clear on ratings and he can add a second Grade 1 for Gordon Elliott, following his Christmas success at Leopardstown, with Sam Ewing unlikely to allow this develop into a sprint for the line.

Jonbon's Aintree love-affair to go on

Things didn't go to plan for JONBON in the Queen Mother Champion Chase at Cheltenham, as he once more left the Cotswolds showpiece with his now customary silver medal.

Not for the first time, however, filling the runner-up spot was a credit to Nicky Henderson's star.

He made a shuddering mistake mid-race and was shuffled back to last, but Jonbon showed his guts to rally late on for Nico de Boinville and take second, the winner Marine Nationale long gone into the distance.

It's open to debate whether he would have proved an equal for Barry Connell's winner in any scenario on the day, but Jonbon had been the best two-mile chaser in Britain or Ireland this season previous to that, and it wasn't even close.

He's 3-3 at this meeting in the past, beat Protektorat in this race a year and finds El Fabiolo with serious questions to answer following his Gowran Park defeat five weeks ago.

Matata completes the line-up and should prove a bit shy at this grade.

Dreams to come true in Sefton

The Sefton Novices' Hurdle looks wide open and one who may be underestimated a touch is Gordon Elliott's mare FAMILIAR DREAMS.

The Cullentra handler runs this mare and Jacob's Ladder, who won a Grade 3 at Naas most recently, and the daughter of Postponed looks the one to be with.

She was hugely progressive in bumpers last spring, winning four on the spin for Anthony McCann, and gave weight and a beating to Winter Fog in a 2m Flat race at Tramore in August after joining Elliott.

Originally bought for €310,000 by Qatar Racing, she changed hands last month having won her maiden at Punchestown (2m4f) when she came clear with and fended off Toad Hall from the Mullins team (an easy winner since).

Familiar Dreams then added a Mares' Grade 3 novice at Limerick last month, somewhat under the radar while the Cheltenham Festival was ongoing, under a confident Jordan Gainford ride upped to 2m6½f.

She gets 7lb from the geldings now and is well worth a tilt at this prize given she's top-rated and with plenty scope for better.
