The Denise Foster-trained Flier got off the mark at the 23rd attempt when coming out best in what proved a highly competitive Friday Fixtures Until 11th April Handicap at Dundalk.

There were still plenty of the 13 runners still in contention as they stretched right across the track over a furlong out.

Gary Carroll got Flier motoring between horses and the 13/2 chance kept on well in the closing stages to hold off 2/1 favourite Chopsticks by half-a-length. Tyder was a further half-a-length away in third.

Carroll said, “It is (great to get her off the mark). She is consistent away and she tries.

"She has her level and things worked out there today. She got her turn.

"She has some okay form on the turf. She stuck her head out and she tries."
