Savante (4/5f) took advantage of a low chase rating when landing Navan’s concluding Balreask Bar, Restaurant & Guest Accommodation Mares Handicap Chase today, scoring for trainer Colm Murphy, jockey Brian Hayes and owner Paul McKeon.

Rated 122 over hurdles following a narrow defeat at the Dublin Racing Festival earlier this month, the daughter of Workforce today competed from a mark of just 112. Having improved to lead approaching the final fence, Savante went on to score readily by nine lengths from Me Wee Bonnie Lass .

Murphy mentioned "it was a last-minute decision to run as there was initially only five or six entered before the race opened up, so we stuck her in it. She's actually in on Monday (for the Dublin National at Leopardstown) and while that was the plan, she won't go there now.

"I’m delighted with her and I'd say the ground was a big thing to her. She's one of those that handles that ground and things happened too quick for her earlier on in the year, hence why she has the mark she has."
