Formscan By Tom Weekes - TIMIYAN has escaped under the radar since his E470,000 purchase in September 2014 but has now climbed sufficiently in the weights to enter the handicap here and could strike for formidable connections. An easy winner at this festival in 2014, he initially failed to trouble the judge over hurdles but has now won twice for trainer Gordon Elliott and comes here with the profile of a horse who can continue to progress from his favourable enough 135 rating. Max Dynamite is another very likely type having filled second place in this race in 2015. He finished a heartbreaking second in that year’s Melbourne Cup and while absent since June 2016 now, is likely to have been aimed at this race as his comeback run for some time. He clearly has strong claims from his 141 mark but that is 5lbs higher than 2015 and he has yet to prove himself fully as a top level hurdler. Barry Geraghty takes the ride on Tigris River, with TIMIYAN having just 10st4lbs, and Tigris RIver himself has claims having proven himself a capable type. He was fifth in this race last year and while 5lbs higher now, should run his race having won at Bellewstown latest. Clondaw Warrior won the race last year but now has top weight to overcome and may struggle to win despite having first-time blinkers. Princely Conn was third in 2016 and while he is now 6lbs higher, has had that rating preserved since, having been campaigned on the flat since then. Swamp Fox continues to climb the handicap ladder and while he needs a clearly career best to win, should be able to figure nonetheless having run another cracker when second in the Amateur Handicap on Monday.
